Drill music
|
Anyone listen to a bit of drill? Been listening to a bit of Harlem spartans lately and find it relaxing and interesting.
All they talk about is murders they’ve done and dealing class A drugs, it’s bizarre
The drill scene is like a real time live streamed episode of the wire

There was some really good stuff from stateside a few years ago. The Chicago sound is much more "loud" and energetic than the UK stuff. Fredo Santana's early mixtapes (Scary Site, Fredo Krueger etc) were packed with bangers. Great gym music.
Half the big names from Chicago back then ain't making music any more cos they're dead. Most of the new American stuff is autotuned to fuck and just shit tbh.

How could I have forgotten that? I have that album, my excuse (and it is a poor one) is that I rarely get past Hallogallo.

CB from Ga7a/Seventh (Woodgrange Road) was the best about.
Currently doing 23 years for pointing a loaded shotgun at a police car during a chase.
Whoosh seems to be the next big thing out of that lot but nowhere near as good.
67's earlier stuff was the benchmark imo. 90% of the rest sounds the same.
The Irish stuff (INK for example) is strangely listenable.
If you fancy a laugh look up "pete and baz". 2 white blokes in their 70s who churn out bangers about going down the pub

Theres a yank duo who are a complete fucking rip off and absolutely shit so don't bother looking for them

The real reasons it’s called drill is after you listen to it you want to stick the drill in your ears.

Apparently it was in part influenced by a reggae singer called Desmond from way back....
....all I can find out is that he was BLACK & DECKER was his surname.
That’s probably just a load of bollocks though.

Branded understands. It’s the music of an underclass with its own story to tell
The fusion of murder music and televisuals is a pretty radical form of culture
Imagine what punk and oi sounded like to Middle Aged folk when it started
99% of it is shit and the people involved are utter cunts but they really are the product of a fucked up environment
